Homeless Facts

In the 2008 Homeless Count there were AT LEAST 3,062 people homeless in Metro Vancouver.

Since 2002, there has been a shocking 137% increase in overall homelessness and a 373% increase in the number of people sleeping outside. /.

National Housing Strategy

[ September 30, 2009; 1:00 pm; ] The vote on a new bill for a National Housing Strategy is likely taking place Wednesday, September 30. Federal MP Libby Davies, from Vancouver East, has tabled Bill C-304., an “Act to ensure secure, adequate, accessible and affordable housing for Canadians.”

Homelessness Action Week

In Metro Vancouver the week is organized by the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness.

Many communities in BC and the Yukon will also hold Homelessness Action Week including: Kelowna, Nelson, Whitehorse, Victoria, Naniamo, Prince George and Kamloops. For more information, go to stophomelessness.
